So, wait, the City thinks its ok to give us homework now? First, you basically kidnap us, and then you enjoy tormenting us on a regular basis...and now you give us freakin homework?

Seriously?

I...er...wow. That's all. Wow. I mean, yeah, the curse token thing sound sort of cool and kind of makes this whole nonsense of homework worth it, but...I am skeptical. See this, deities? This is skepticism. How do I know this isn't some sort of weird trick to do something? Huh?

...ah well. I guess the only real way to find out is to actually...do homework. My god, I haven't said that in a long time, and I thought I'd never have to say it again. Man, this place is weird.

Uh...I sort of have no idea what equivalence is, though. It sounds...sciency. Or mathy. And I can't really get to the library to find out whether or not its sciencty or mathy or something else entirely...since...well, hospital. Man this place is boring. Can I go home yet? It smells like iodine here and there's no tv and even though Jacques brings pancakes all the time, which is awesome, I still have to eat the icky hospital food...I miss my bed and my friends and my sheep.

Wait, what was I talking about again? Oh yeah, homework. I think I need help with my homework. Again, a phrase I never thought I'd say again.

My girlfriend in college was killed by a demon because of me. After that, I had a really hard time letting people in. Kept everyone at a distance. The first girl I got close to after that..turned out to be a werewolf. She didn't know it, none of us did, but by the time we found out, it was too late. Our only options were to either keep her on lockdown..or end it then and there. I didn't want to do it. I really liked her, probably could have loved her one day. But she didn't want to, to keep living. Knowing that she would kill people. So I did it. My brother offered to do it for me, but she asked me...so I did it.

The point I'm trying to make is, no matter how hard it might be, no matter how much it..hurts. You do the right thing. You always do the right thing, especially when there are lives to protect. You owe it to that person.

I understand all of that...I really do, trust me. I...my parents...it's a long story, but believe me when I say I completely understand.

...I...think that if I ever had to...I would. Because he wouldn't want to hurt anybody, and...it'd be my job as best friend to stop him before he does.

I just hope it never has to come to that.

Exactly. You're a good kid, Hanna, and things like this aren't fair in any way, but..I know you'd do the right thing.

But hopefully it never will. Ours did the 180 because they were raised by Death for that exact purpose, so maybe you and..Gallahad, will be okay.

I hope so...he's sort of the first real friend I've ever had.

Well, he's got amnesia. That's why he gets different names, because we don't know what his real one is, and I thought that trying different names would trigger something...

I just wanted to see if that's sort of common or not...

He doesn't remember his past? Well, there's a lot of different lore on zombies, and I've seen three different types of them, now four with your friend. So I can't really say for sure. The only ones that were capable of cognitive thought like him were the ones raised by Death, and they all had their memories.

It might have something to do with how he was raised, or maybe some sort of trauma from his life. I'm sure that if humans can get amnesia, the undead can too. It's not common, but it's not impossible.

Hm...ok, I guess that all makes sense. He says he doesn't really care about finding out about his lost memories, but...

Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just be careful with things like that. Sometimes the past isn't always as friendly as we wish it could be.

I know that. Trust me, I hear ya there...still, maybe it would explain why he's a zombie. I think I care more than he does, honestly.

But you're doing fine, Hanna. Just, stick with him. No matter what you guys find out, he's gonna need support. So make sure you're there.

I'd always stick with him, no matter what. He's my best friend, and no matter what happens, he's stuck with me.

I know! 'S weird...I like it, though! I like this place, it gives me a chance to meet cool people who actually like me! Well, I mean, I had friends at home, and they're awesome, but it's easier to get to know people here for some reason..

I think it's just the fact that we're all on even ground here. All trapped against our will and on the losing side of, well, everything. Makes people a lot more agreeable.

That's true. Plus, there's so many different people here...and it's just easier to get along with people. Everybody has at least one thing in common!

I'm not really the best people person, but it's easier here!!

It really is. I'm kind of glad, to be honest. This place isn't exactly my idea of a vacation but it's a welcome break from everything back home.
