...Ok, quick question. This may seem stupid, but, a few days ago, when everybody was getting reeeeeeally personal...that was a curse, right?

And, and today, all the earthquakes and the screaming animals...that's one too, I assume? This isn't normal?

Are t Or do they get worse? Does anybody keep track of them? Cuz a lot of people seem to dislike them...but nobody seems to do anything.
Huh. Oh well.
Note to self. Keep curse diary. Look for repeats.

That being said, they really are ten kinds of uncool...Also, alleyways are not the best place to be during an earthquake, so I've abandoned my box for now.

Dear Corwallis,

I've decided that, until I get home or you/Connie/Worth/somebody else I know gets here, I'm going to keep a ~~diary~~ journal of my escapades here for reference!

I met two of my heroes here already, but I think Sherlock Holmes is mad at me because I like paranormal investigating...oh well. I'll prove that its a legit field of business!

How are things back home? Is the investigation going well? Or is it really at a standstill while I'm gone, like people tell me? I hope things are ok.

Oh, gotta go, another quake is starting and they make it hard to write. Bye!

[Hanna cuts off the video feed as the earth starts to rumble again.]

[wahh, Watanuki felt that one! He waits for it to calm down and then flails his way out the door.

aaand eventually he makes it to the street.]

Hanna-san? Where are you?

[Hanna's hiding behind a pile of rubble, trying to prevent being hit by falling debris. Upon hearing his name, though, he pokes his head out and waves slightly, trying to catch Watanuki's attention.]

Watanuki!! Over here!!

[His attention is caught! And he hurries over, fret fret.]

Are you okay? You didn't get hit by anything or anything?

"No, I think I'm all right...are you ok?"

Hanna smiled weakly at Watanuki, afraid that his new friend might have gotten hurt on the way down.

Watanuki gave a smile of his own, reassuring with a tinge of nervous. But he'd just lost a rice cooker to this curse and his nerves were really pretty frayed. He was entitled to a tinge of nervous.

"I'm fine." Fine enough. "We'd better hurry back before it starts up again."

Hanna nodded and smiled, getting up and brushing some of the dust off of his clothes.

"Yeah, let's go...glad you're ok, though. I'd hate it if you got hurt coming to get me..."

"Hey, I've seen worse. We both probably have. Don't worry." Waving a hand in dismissal, he turned, looking back the way he'd come. "My apartment's over... there." Point. "Not too far."

Watanuki took a tentative step forward, glancing back to make sure Hanna followed.

Hanna nodded. It was true, he had seen worse...still, it was scary, regardless of that fact.

He's still following, a nervous smile on his face.
"I'm coming, I'm coming, don't worry about me!"

Walking, walking... Watanuki's nerves are still on edge, expecting another quake to hit any second now. But home and a nice safe doorway to hide in are in view.

"I hope my kitchen's still intact," he mutters, almost a groan, as he reaches the door to the building.

"Oh, jeez, if your kitchen gets destroyed, I'll try to help fix it, I promise!"

Hanna smiles slightly, looking guilty.

"You don't have to! I'm hoping it's just a few broken plates," says Watanuki, trying for hopeful but missing by a mile. His kitchen! His kitchen is sacred.

He opens the door and leads the way inside, making for the elevator, but -- that's probably not the best idea in an earthquake. The stairs it is.

"Well, I still wanna help clean up...as the guest, it's my responsibility!"

He nodded, very seriously, as he made a beeline for the stairs.
"Gotta give the deities credit, though...the apartments are kinda nice."

Watanuki wants to argue something along the lines of it being not Hanna's fault, so he shouldn't have to clean up, but Hanna's just so gosh-darn earnest about it. He lets it go for now.

"Hm." He looks around thoughtfully as he climbs the stairs. "I never really thought about it, but they are pretty nice. Probably an improvement on a box, right?"

"Oh, a HUGE improvement. But to be fair, the box wasn't too awful. It was clean."

He laughed and grinned again, following Watanuki up the stairs.

"So, weird topic change, but you say that ghosts and ghouls bug you, right? But they don't here? Any idea why?"

"Well..." Watanuki falters. There are two possible reasons he can think of. One of them is not particularly appealing.

"I think it's either, there aren't any spirits in the City" -- because this is like some alternate-dimension, right? so that's plausible -- "or... it's because of Doumeki."

"Dou-who?"

Hanna blinked, but then grinned as an idea struck him.

"Can...I have an idea, can I try some protection spells on you to see if they help with your problem?"

"Doumeki," Watanuki repeats, in the kind of tone other people use to say "hemorrhoid", glaring at the wall. "He's my fr--well, not my friend, more like a, a, stalker or something. He keeps spirits away."

Then he turns back to Hanna with wide, hopeful eyes. "You can do that?"

Hanna nodded, smiling a bit.

"I can try, anyway...I have to use warding and protection spells when dealing with ghosts. I don't know if they'd work, but I can try them on you and see how it goes, ok?"
