You know, it's sort of nice, seeing all the happy married couples on the network today.

I know it's a curse, or maybe it's not, sometimes it's hard to tell with these things, but...either way, be happy and enjoy it!

As for me, I'm off to go have a beer. Or maybe several. Depends on if its good beer.

Eeey, Stephen! Come on in, get comfy, just watch where you step! The dogs have taken to sleeping...everywhere. And they get grouchy when stepped on.

[Stephen steps gingerly into the apartment.]

How many dogs do you have, man?

A lot. The litter started off with 15, but a lot went to new homes here...so then I had 9 left...but then if somebody leaves, I need to make sure those dogs get new homes...

...so I'm sort of back up from 9 to 11. And then Iznagi makes 12, but as a sheep, he can't really count.

[Stephen picks his way across the menagerie to stick some beers in the fridge.]

I...yeah. It's a long story, but he's about a year old. He's been here as long as me.

Oh! And there's Lassie too. She was the dog of one of my roommates, but he left...so I take care of her now. The other dogs are her puppies...well, they're big puppies now, hee.

How do you walk around in here?

[Stephen cracks open a beer and hands it to Hanna, before attempting to find a dog-free surface to enjoy his own.]

With great difficulty. Besides, it's a big apartment...one of my old roommates had a lot of other roommates besides me, so he made sure to get a BIG apartment. Room for animals too.

Since I'm the only one living here now, it's not so bad.

You're by yourself, man? I thought that's not supposed to be a good idea in The City, or something.

Well, I'm by myself as far as human company goes. But I have...well, a LOT of animals. So not technically alone.

I guess that counts for something, man. I don't know if I'd ever want to get more than one pet, though. Two Neils in the house is more than enough.

Naw, man. Me and Neil, we look out for each other, you know? It's how it's been for years. It's kind of nice that it's back like that.

[Stephen stretches an arm across the back of the couch and grins lazily as he finishes off his beer.]

[Stephen pulls himself off the couch to go root around in his bag from the liquor store. He comes out triumphant holding the tequila and a few limes.]

No point doing this sober, right?
