Case 7 --partly-video--

Ah, jeez, it's dark out today...well, I guess that's to be expected...

One big plague left...aw jeez...

Oh! I need some advice about something.

[The camera turns on and cuts to a lamb, sitting on some newspaper, chewing a plant.  One of its legs is wrapped up in bandages, which are soaking up blood. Hanna goes into the camera briefly, petting the lamb, who bleats happily, before he turns to the camera and sighs, smiling weakly before turning it off.]

Uh...this is Iznagi.

...I couldn't do it, I just couldn't do it.  I tried, I really did...but look at him! Look at his cute little ears! How could I kill him, he's adorable!

I planned on giving him a last meal and doing it quickly and getting it over with...but I couldn't! I missed, thank God, and just hurt his leg, so I feel terrible about that, but he's still alive...

I couldn't do it, but I've got some of his blood on bandages and rags...if I smeared that on the door, would that be enough?  Or is there still some other option I haven't found yet? I tried to get blood out of lamb meat, that didn't really work...is there some place in the city that isn't affected by this insanity?

Oh, no no no, Iznagi, don't eat that, that's for people!! Stop!

...Heh heh...I kiiinda need to know what lambs eat, besides plants.  Iznagi seems to like leftover pancakes...but I doubt that's good for him, soooo...

This is why you name it Izanami instead... That way you know it has to die...

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...but...but I'm not gonna kill him! Nobody is!

[identity profile] sword-boy.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? So you're going to let yourself be open to what's probably to come... and since this is going to be literally Biblical, you do know what is to come right?

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know...and it's not like I don't value living or anything, but I just can't kill him or any other lamb.

I'll find another way.

[identity profile] sword-boy.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? So you'll get someone else to take care of it for you? Because you realize someone, somewhere else is doing the same thing you're doing... and actually finishing the act.

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I won't! I'm not gonnna kill anything, and...and I know I'm not the only one. There has to be another way, where we don't have to hurt the sheep.

[identity profile] sword-boy.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The sheep are superfluous creations of the Deities meant to go along with this curse. Stop worrying about it, and save yourself from further trouble that is going to be caused by this curse.

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't care if they deities made them to mess with us, I'm not gonna hurt them!

[identity profile] sword-boy.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at the greater good... if you don't hurt them, then something very bad may happen to you. Which is higher for you: the life of one lamb or the lives of yourselves and others who can benefit from one lamb's death?

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...I can't kill anything, or anybody, just to save my life. It's not fair, and it's not right.

Sometimes you have to kill for the greater good... I've had to do it before.

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
...I know you do.

But I don't think it's right to sacrifice the life of somebody else to save my own.

[identity profile] sword-boy.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... who says that life ends there? Can't death be the transformation of ourselves into another form?

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know..it's not something I usually think about.

Take it from someone who died twice before I even came to the City, death is a unique experience, but don't discount it as something finite.

[identity profile] manofgnee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, I'm well aware about the quirkiness of death. But I'll try to take it into consideration.
