manofgnee | Case 64

[A small, slightly chubby redheaded child is standing outside of a flowershop, clutching an orange balloon as if it was his lifeline. He appears to be about 5 years old, maybe even a bit younger, but is in actuality 7. His glasses are missing, and he's a bit more freckly than he will be when he grows up, but even as a kid, he's still recognizable.

This is Hanna Cross, and he is lost.
One minute, he was with his mother in the park...and then he wandered off for a second and ended up in a strange place.

And he's scared.]

M...mu...Mommy...?

Mommy, where'd you go...?

[Hanna sniffles a bit, clutching his balloon tighter, rubbing at one of his eyes as he starts to cry.]

I du-dunno where I am...I w...wuhanna go hooome...

[Still crying and still very lost, Hanna runs off, scared, looking for his mom, before, in frustration, he returns to the front of the flower shop, kicking the wall before slumping down and crying into his knees.]

I want Mom...

[ooc: Hanna Cross, age 7!! He's a bit...healthier looking than he is as an adult, and remembers nothing of his time in the City or the people he knows as an adult. He can't do magic (at least not purposeful magic) and he can't investigate the paranormal, but he can still get into trouble. Since we don't know much about Hanna as a kid, I'm just gonna wing it as best as possible. Good luck, City, he's your problem now!!]

I don't know, but there has to be something around here!

[ She looks up at the balloon with interest. ] How does it fly like that?

Mom says that they got special gas inside them that makes them float, but if I let go, the balloon will fly away. So I gotta hold on tight.

[He nodded, smiling.]

But the gas is gonna start to go away, and it won't float anymore...but that means I can keep Gallahad forever!!

Oh, that's neat! [ She claps her hands. ] You should definitely hold on really tight!

I'm gonna!! Mom gave it to me, anyway...

[He looks a bit sad again.]

Well...what about you? What do you wanna do>

I'm sure you'll find your mom again later.

[ She turns around in a circle, taking in the scenery. ] I can hear water! Do you want to go see what it is?

You think so...?

Oh, yeah!!

[He grins a bit and nods.]

It could be like an adventure!

Yeah, an adventure!

[ Dragging you to your feet. Let's go! ]

[Hanna laughs and allows himself to be dragged to his feed, following after Presea with a grin.]

[ A little bit of wandering around helps them find the fountain! Which is huge and wet and very interesting. She's going to go right up to the edge and look down into it. ]

Isn't it pretty?

Oooh...wow, it's really big...

[Hanna joins her at the edge, staring down into the fountain.]

How deep dya think it is?

It looks really deep! [ Except. not. ] Do you want to go swimming?

I like swimming...but first I have to find a place to tie up my balloon!!

Oh, right! You have to keep your mom's balloon. [ Looks around. There has to be somewhere... ]

Maybe a pole, or some really big rock...just so it won't fly away. I gotta keep it safe till I get home!!

Oh, there! [ She points at a nearby lamppost. ]

Oooh, good idea!! I'll do a triple knot to make sure it stays nice and safe!!

[Hanna runs off to tie his balloon up.]

[ Scrambles up onto the ledge of the fountain, disregarding anyone's warnings to the contrary. ]

You got it?

Yep!! I triple knotted it super tight, so it won't fly away!!

[He grins and gets up on the ledge of the fountain, taking off his shirt so it won't get wet. He doesn't have a giant chest scar to be ashamed of yet, after all.]

Ready?

[ She doesn't care about her dress getting wet. Not in the heat of the moment! ]

Ready!

[ Jumps! ]

[Hanna jumps in after her with a great big splash!]

[ Well, that's one way to cool off in the summer! She stands back up, giggling and soaked. ]

Yay!

[Hanna laughs and moves to splash Presea.]

This is great!! It's not as deep as I thought, but that's good!!

[ Splashsplashsplash! ]

That's better because I can't swim.

I'm not a good swimmer, but I like splashing!!

[Hanna laughs and splashes Presea playfully.]

Hey!

[ She giggles and splashes back. Adults, who needs them? ]
