Case 111 [Action]

[There's a party today in Xanadu! It's the day before Euphie's 18th birthday, and in an effort to avoid any sort of bad curse, Hanna's throwing her party on Sunday.

There are big picnic tables set up with all sorts of snacks and treats. One table is devoted to desserts, especially the big birthday cake. Hanna even managed to pull through and make cookies, despite his overall inability to cook or bake.

There's music, and speakers, and a myriad of decorations, including balloons, paper lanterns, streamers, and confetti. Hanna's spent the good part of the past week planning this party.
The grill is set up, and the present table is ready as well. Hanna himself is lounging in one of the chairs, a large box in his lap. Every so often, the box moves a bit, and Hanna smiles and sticks a finger through the hole in the top of the box.

Yep. Everything is set for one awesome party.]

[He won't awkward out of the cheek kiss too much. Euphie's not cursed so there's no need to wiggle away. As far as he's aware, she doesn't have any attraction to him when she's not cursed]

I haven't yet. I need to head over there to taste some.

[That elbow is hers!] I suppose I can do that. [Smiles and takes a piece of the chocolate side of the cake for herself and lets Reid choose what he likes.]

How have you been? [Not that the lust curse when they last spoke was really very long ago.]

[After studying the cake a bit, he picks the white cake. In some ways, yes, Reid is very vanilla.]

Okay. Still teaching and spending a lot of time in the library. How have you been?

I've been good. I think I was only affected once in the seven curse days we had.

That's good. I managed to just be affected by pride.

Oh! So, you weren't... [Affected by lust.] Oh. Well, that's good. I'm glad you just had pride too. [Good recovery, right?]

No. [He tucks his hair behind his ears.] Faith was though. [It's said with a bit of an odd tone.] I didn't know until later.

I think so. I mean...I am and she seems to be.

Well, I hope she is too. Are you...dating?

[Furrowy brow and confusion] No. We're just...friends. [Not really even friends.]

[She feels awkward. She shouldn't have asked such a personal question. She nods. Maybe a change of subject.] Do you like the music? My friend, Dean, chose it.

It's okay. I usually listen to classical music but classic rock had some really good pieces and it was integral to the music we have today.

[Giggles] Yes, of course. My brother, Lelouch, is very smart too. There are a lot of strategists in the family.

Do they play chess?

[That definitely makes her laugh.] There were times I wasn't sure they ever stopped. One of the first things I bought for Lelouch here was a chess board. I'm afraid he doesn't get much of a challenge playing against me though. [Other than her being unpredictable.]

I could try playing with him. [He considers this a moment] I just started playing a few years ago so I might not be much of a challenge to him but it'd be someone different.
