Case 111 [Action]

[There's a party today in Xanadu! It's the day before Euphie's 18th birthday, and in an effort to avoid any sort of bad curse, Hanna's throwing her party on Sunday.

There are big picnic tables set up with all sorts of snacks and treats. One table is devoted to desserts, especially the big birthday cake. Hanna even managed to pull through and make cookies, despite his overall inability to cook or bake.

There's music, and speakers, and a myriad of decorations, including balloons, paper lanterns, streamers, and confetti. Hanna's spent the good part of the past week planning this party.
The grill is set up, and the present table is ready as well. Hanna himself is lounging in one of the chairs, a large box in his lap. Every so often, the box moves a bit, and Hanna smiles and sticks a finger through the hole in the top of the box.

Yep. Everything is set for one awesome party.]

I suppose that's true. This does make me want to ask everyone when their birthdays are. I'd hate to miss any. When is yours, Toph?

[Smiles] Actually, it was Aang when he was here. Does he have a nickname too?

Twinkletoes. That boy has the softest step I've ever felt.

You can feel other people's footsteps?

Of course. In case you haven't noticed, sister, I don't see with my eyes. [ She pushes her bangs up so you can see her clouded eyes. ] I use my feet instead.

Yes, I did know about your eyes. [She holds back what she thinks would be unwelcome sympathy, but it sounds in her voice.] But I didn't know feet could be so sensitive.

They're more sensitive. I can see in the dark. [ Grins. ]

That's very useful. I'm not sure how my sister dealt with being unable to see. [Not through her feet though.]

[ Shakes head. ] I don't know either. It's bad enough when we're flying or somewhere I can't see.

What sort of places can't you see? [Since she would have said all places.] Where the ground is too hard?

No, where it's too soft. Sand is all... fuzzy. [ Shakes her head. ]

Oh, I wouldn't have thought of something like that. You're very talented.

Thanks. [ She buffs her fingernails on her shirt. ] So how's the puppy thing going for you? I've never had a pet.

So far so good. I'm very excited about it. I hope Tumbles is too.

Maybe you should get a pet while you're here. Hanna has other puppies.

Maybe, I guess. Katara says I make enough of a mess on my own, though. She'd probably bug me about it.
